Growth Disorders & Paediatric Endocrinology

Evaluation of short stature, delayed puberty, growth hormone deficiency, and paediatric endocrine conditions.

A child’s growth is the most visible indicator of their hormonal health. When a child is growing too slowly, entering puberty too early or too late, or showing signs of an endocrine condition, early specialist evaluation can be transformative — often before the growth plates close and the window for treatment passes permanently.

Signs to Watch For in Your Child

  • Consistently the shortest child in the class with no signs of catching up
  • Growth rate of less than 4 cm per year after the age of 4
  • Signs of puberty before age 8 in girls (breast development) or age 9 in boys
  • No breast development by age 13 in girls, or no testicular enlargement by age 14 in boys
  • Excessive thirst and urination in a child — possible Type 1 diabetes
  • Unexplained weight gain, fatigue, or declining school performance — may signal hypothyroidism

Once the growth plates fuse — typically by age 14–16 — adult height potential cannot be recovered. Early referral is always the right decision.
